Architectural change

For G70 BMW abandoned the previous global SWB/LWB split:

• the seventh-generation 7 Series is offered worldwide as a single long-wheelbase body;
• petrol, diesel, PHEV and BEV versions share one flexible production architecture;
• BMW i7 is a powertrain/model branch within the same G70 body architecture.

740i

Regional non-European 48V petrol:

• 3.0 I6;
• system: 280 kW / 380 hp;
• 540 Nm.

760i xDrive

Regional V8:

• 400 kW / 544 hp;
• 750 Nm;
• 48V;
• xDrive.

740d xDrive

Europe:

• I6 diesel + 48V;
• system: 220 kW / 300 hp;
• 670 Nm;
• 0–100: 5.8 s.

750e xDrive

• 3.0 I6 petrol: 230 kW / 313 hp, 450 Nm;
• electric drive;
• system: 360 kW / 490 hp in original BMW global release;
• 700 Nm;
• 0–100: 4.8 s;
• usable battery: 18.7 kWh;
• AC: 7.4 kW;
• WLTP EV range: 83–87 km.

BMW M760e xDrive

First BMW M Performance/M-badged performance 7 Series with six-cylinder PHEV:

• ICE: 280 kW / 380 hp;
• system: 420 kW / 571 hp with temporary boost;
• 800 Nm;
• 0–100: 4.3 s;
• usable battery: 18.7 kWh;
• WLTP EV range: 77–85 km.

Protection

G70 supports a factory-developed protection architecture including:

• BMW 7 Series Protection;
• BMW i7 Protection, the first certified fully electric protection sedan in its class/official BMW context.

2026 model update

BMW calls the 2026 revision:

• the most comprehensive model update in BMW Group history;
• the first existing BMW production model to receive technologies from Neue Klasse.

Production:

• starts July 2026 in Dingolfing.

Technology:

• new centralised electronics/software architecture;
• BMW Panoramic iDrive;
• Symbiotic Drive;
• Gen6 round-cell battery technology on the updated electric branch;
• petrol, diesel, PHEV and BEV remain available.

Updated i7 60 xDrive

BMW July 2026 production release:

• WLTP range: 608–727 km;
• 10–80% DC charge: around 28 minutes.

The new 2026 i7 60 xDrive phase is stored separately from the original i7 xDrive60; power/battery specifications are not copied across without a direct current technical table.
