BMW 732i — electronics milestone

BMW Archive describes the 732i as introducing Bosch Motronic digital engine electronics at a pioneering production level for the European market. Exact wording in technology chapter will be cross-checked against Bosch/period BMW technical documentation.

September 1982 model revision / LCI-equivalent

BMW historical material explicitly records a broad revision from September 1982:

Exterior:

flatter kidney grille;
smaller radiator air opening;
modified lower bumper panel.

Technical:

745i moved to 3.4-litre engine while retaining 252 PS;
transmission evolution;
later electronically controlled 4-speed automatic.

This update must split pre-/post-1982 database rows where drivetrain or equipment changed.

BMW 725i — government special

[OFFICIAL]

not part of regular public product range;
intended for public authorities with displacement restrictions;
525i-derived engine;
150 PS;
production ended April 1986;
921 units.
