xDrive was offered on multiple petrol and diesel versions; every AWD row remains separate because mass, transmission and acceleration differ.

F31 Touring

Representative:

• 330d Touring: 258 hp / 560 Nm in early factory material.

F34 Gran Turismo

F34 is a distinct Gran Turismo body family, not Touring trim.

LCI — 2015

BMW's 2015 model update brought a major engine-family transition.

Petrol

318i

• replaces 316i;
• new modular 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol;
• 136 hp;
• 220 Nm;
• temporary overboost to 230 Nm;
• Sedan 0–62 mph: 8.9 s.

320i

• latest modular-family four-cylinder;
• 184 hp class.

330i

• replaces 328i;
• new modular-family turbo four-cylinder;
• 185 kW / 252 hp;
• 350 Nm;
• Sedan 8AT 0–62 mph: 5.8 s;
• Touring: 5.9 s.

340i

• replaces 335i;
• all-new modular-family turbo I6;
• 240 kW / 326 hp;
• 450 Nm;
• first 3 Series application of the new modular six-cylinder generation.

This is the critical transition: 335i N55 306 → 340i B58-generation 326.

Diesel

LCI diesel range moves into the new modular diesel family.

Representative rows:

• 316d: 116 hp;
• 318d: 150 hp;
• 320d: 190 hp;
• 325d: 218 hp class;
• 330d: 258 hp;
• 335d xDrive: 313 hp.

A badge remaining unchanged does not prove the same engine family before/after LCI.

BMW 330e — 2016 PHEV

SERIES PLUG-IN HYBRID

BMW factory final production specification:

• petrol engine: 184 hp;
• electric motor: 65 kW / 88 hp;
• system output: 185 kW / 252 hp;
• system torque: 420 Nm;
• 0–100 km/h: 6.1 s;
• Vmax: 225 km/h;
• rear-wheel drive;
• 8-speed Steptronic;
• plug-in rechargeable battery.

This replaces the previous ActiveHybrid 3 concept in the electrified 3 Series lineage.

Body-family boundary

The two-door derivatives are not F30-generation 3 Series models:

• F32 = 4 Series Coupé;
• F33 = 4 Series Convertible;
• F36 = 4 Series Gran Coupé.

They are catalogued separately under models/4-series/.
