Major later-stage gap.

Current project state:

• historical ALPINA master database has 0 normalized data rows;
• brand-transition chapter exists;
• no exhaustive model-by-model historical ALPINA catalogue has yet been built.

This remains a dedicated Stage 7 obligation under the project plan and does not invalidate the core BMW engine-stage gate.

Special Editions

• 63 Markdown files currently exist under special-editions/;
• this is substantial coverage but not yet proven exhaustive worldwide;
• formal SPECIAL_EDITION_DATABASE.md still has 0 normalized data rows.

BMW M

• principal generation chapters pass the core ledger;
• formal M_MASTER_DATABASE.md still has 0 normalized rows;
• edition-by-edition/global-production verification remains open.

M Performance

• 19 Markdown files currently exist;
• core modern branches are represented;
• market-specific SAE/PS ratings and obscure regional derivatives still need later specialist audit.

Concepts / prototypes / motorsport

• concepts folder remains intentionally sparse;
• prototypes are separated from production;
• motorsport links are not exhaustive.

5. Formal database state

The following master tables remain intentionally unpopulated as normalized databases:

6. Stage decision

Core BMW serial master-index gate: PASS

No missing chapter remains in the controlled 76-node core generation/body ledger after the repairs above.

Stage 4 ENGINE MASTER: UNLOCKED

The next part may begin formal engine-family/revision normalization for BMW series-production automobiles.

Conditions:

• every row must retain source/unit/market distinctions;
• open DATA CONFLICTS remain open until resolved;
• no engine code may be inferred from badge/displacement alone;
• PHEV/mild-hybrid/BEV component and system outputs stay separate.

Later stages remain mandatory

Passing the core gate does not cancel:

• M Performance audit;
• ALPINA full historical build;
• special/anniversary audit;
• rankings/performance cross-check;
• final global completeness audit.
