G65 — fifth-generation BMW X5 / first BMW iX5

Internal family: G65 in BMW PressClub metadata.

BMW official as of June/July 2026:

• fifth-generation X5 publicly presented;
• series production at Spartanburg is scheduled to start in August 2026;
• first market launch of combustion variants: late November 2026;
• BEV and PHEV market launch: early 2027.

Announced/provisional examples:

• X5 40 xDrive;
• X5 50e xDrive;
• iX5 60 xDrive;
• later M Performance variant;
• later iX5 Hydrogen from 2028.

Working status on 13 August 2026

ANNOUNCED / SERIES-PRODUCTION START MONTH REACHED, EXACT SOP DAY / SERIAL-UNIT COMPLETION NOT CONFIRMED IN CURRENT SOURCE SET.

Therefore:

• G65 is reserved in the future/current-boundary ledger;
• it is not added to the confirmed serial-model registry count in редакционная глава;
• once BMW publishes/records actual SOP or a production milestone, it becomes a current serial family.

G78 — China BMW X5 / BMW iX5 Long Wheelbase

BMW PressClub tags the China-specific next-generation long-wheelbase family as G78.

BMW official July 2026:

• China-only X5 and first iX5 Long Wheelbase;
• wheelbase 130 mm longer than corresponding global model;
• total wheelbase 3,165 mm;
• market/production timing remains later than the audit's confirmed current serial ledger.

Working status: ANNOUNCED 2026 / FUTURE CUSTOMER-PRODUCTION PHASE.

Do not merge with:

• G18 current China X5 LWB;
• G65 global next X5.

China Neue Klasse iX3 Long Wheelbase

BMW official:

• world premiere at Auto China 2026;
• wheelbase extended 108 mm;
• Gen6 / 800V;
• CLTC range over 900 km in BMW development material;
• up to 400 kW DC;
• scheduled to enter the market in the second half of 2026.

BMW June 2026 still described development/validation activity and a prototype endurance drive.

Working status: WORLD-PREMIERED / MARKET ENTRY SCHEDULED / SERIES-PRODUCTION CONFIRMATION OPEN.

It is not counted as a confirmed serial regional family in редакционная глава yet.

China Neue Klasse i3 Long Wheelbase

BMW showed the China-specific Neue Klasse i3 Long Wheelbase at Auto China 2026.

BMW official public event material:

• China-specific Neue Klasse;
• CLTC range over 1,000 km;
• 800V / Gen6 architecture.

Working status: WORLD-PREMIERED / CURRENT SERIAL-PRODUCTION CONFIRMATION OPEN.

Do not merge with:

• China i3 eDrive35L G28-based 2022 model;
• global Neue Klasse i3 produced in Munich from August 2026.

Global Neue Klasse i3 — promoted in редакционная глава

BMW Group confirmed start of series production at Plant Munich in August 2026.

This global model is therefore no longer held in the future-production quarantine. The separate China-specific i3 Long Wheelbase remains behind its own regional production-confirmation gate.

BMW iX5 Hydrogen

BMW official:

• current 2026 vehicle remains pilot/development preview;
• first series-production hydrogen fuel-cell BMW is planned for 2028.

Status: FUTURE SERIES PRODUCTION — NOT CURRENT SERIAL MODEL.

Rule

A press premiere, announced market launch, prototype drive or scheduled series-production month is not sufficient by itself to count a vehicle as a completed serial-production entry when the audit date falls before a confirmed SOP milestone.
